High Speed Printed Circuit Board Reverse Engineering Strategy
High speed printed circuit board reverse engineering is a complicate and time-consuming process, differential line is very important. The operational principle of differential line is the received signals equal to differential value among two inter-complemented and inter-reference signals which can greatly decrease the electrical noise affection. But single point signal value is equal to the differential value of power supply and grounding, as a result of that, the noise on the signal and power supply system can’t be balanced and fend off effectively when reverse engineering high speed PCB.
In the differential line, both the positive and negative sides should be consistently pass away alongside the transmitting line in the same environment. The two side should be closed to each other to ensure when signals go through all these electro-magnetic field can be coupling each other.
Differential lines are all synchronize so as their environment. For sure there is no such thing for perfection since at least the dimension tolerance existence. If high speed PCB designer can follow some basic rules will attain perfect differential signal result when modify the schematic and gerber of PCB acquired from PCB reverse engineering:
1: ensure signal emerge on the same point of each line at the same time. And make sure the line has same length, if there is any series connection resistance or common mode wave filter, then the connection length between these differential driver must be the same;
2: Field solver can be used to design these separations, which can conveniently acquire the dual modules resistance value. Be aware of not only 50ohm circuit means dual modules, odd module or other differential impedance can also be 50ohm. If a line being connected to grounding or reference voltage due to the purpose of terminate its differential signals, the noise which will affect the environment must be taken into consideration;
